Art Education at The Tate Modern
As a photographer, it’s not every day that your photos are on display at the Tate Modern… but today was that day! I’m very pleased to say that my photos were used as the backdrop to the keynote speech given to educators at the opening of the new Gathering Ground exhibition in London.

I was commissioned by the incredibly inspiring Jenn Plews OBE to showcase some of the fantastic Art and Design teaching and learning happening at Skipton Girls’ High School and Willow Tree Primary School, both part of NSAT (Northern Star Academies Trust). It’s always great to be back at SGHS (being a former pupil!), and my first visit to Willow Tree was a real treat too.

At Skipton Girls’ High School, I captured the amazing work taking place in the Sixth Form A Level Art space, where students develop their skills in a dedicated and creative environment. I was blown away by the quality and variety of work! I also really enjoyed documenting Year 8 Textiles, highlighting their hands-on projects, beautiful designs and attention to detail.

Willow Tree Primary School in Harrogate offers a wide range of artistic activities for their pupils across all the year groups – it was amazing to see everything they had going on! Highlights included drawing taxidermy, outdoor sketching in nursery, and printing using flowers. It’s been great to see such a variety of creative opportunities for students of all ages.

It’s a huge honour to have my photos shown at such a prestigious venue, and even more so to have been able to capture the brilliant work taking place at both schools.

Please take a look at some of the photos below to see some of the wonderful work that I was lucky enough to get to see, and please see my School Photography page if your school is interested in something similar.
